Top 10 most popular Verified Twitter accounts
Listed by most followers, most friends, and most tweets.
I recently did an in-depth analysis of more than 100,000 Verified Twitter accounts — and in the process, came up with some pretty fascinating Top 10 lists… So I decided to share them here, separatly.
Top 10 most followed

The top 10 most followed list is filled with big-name celebrities. With the exception of Barack Obama, the Ellen Show and YouTube, they’re all musicians you’ll probably have heard of.
The main thing they have in common is that they’re all truly mainstream: On every channel, in every radio station, and, apparently, on everyone’s Twitter follow list. More importantly (and sort of obviously, of course): They all have an effortless and comprehensive level of engagement with their Twitter followers.

Top 10 most friends

“Friends” is Twitter-speak for ‘people you follow’.
Or, put differently: I doubt it’d be very pleasant to try and be these guys if you’re trying to stay on top of your twitter news feed.
Interestingly, it seems as if companies (Hootsuite, Lonely Planet) and musicians (MarQuis Thrill, Yoko Ono and Brian Hazard of Depeche Mode fame) are leading the charge on hitting that ‘follow’ button.
- @6BillionPeople (2.4m friends)
- @hootsuite (1.6m friends)

Top 10 most tweets

These chatterboxes like to keep their fingers busy…
The most active tweeters are all companies — which makes sense, if you stop and think about the vast amount of content they are putting out there. If you sent a tweet every five minutes, full time, it would take you 401 days, 9 hours, and 20 minutes to match Amex’ prolific Twitter output. I’m going to take a wild guess that Amex have a pretty decently big team manning the Twitter channel, then.
- @AmexOffers (2.8m tweets)
- @CocaNoMc (1.9m tweets)
- @MovistarArg (1.8m tweets)
- @la_patilla (1.7m tweets)
- @Telkomsel 1.5m tweets)
- @PersonalAr (1.4m tweets)
- @ElNacionalWeb (1.2m tweets)
- @virginmedia (1.0m tweets)
- @VZWSupport (1.0m tweets)
- @noticias24 (0.9m tweets)
